Summer Rain

Tonight’s rain falls gently on the tin roof
As we lie awake in our bed.
The gentle cool mist of summer night’s air
Enters these empty spaces of our room,
To enjoy the silence between us.
As sleep falls upon your eyes
And sails you into another time,
I place this goodnight kiss on your cheek.
As I listen to the softness of tonight’s Summer Rain
Whisper these thoughts in my mind,
Like the moon above pulls onto our ocean tides
Only you pull upon my heart strings.

He thought I was beautiful, I thought he was tall.
We ran in the woods, in Gentle Summer Rain until we were soaked.
I was 14, he was 20, July 1993.
