Leader with no baggage!

Two weeks ago, when I read Adam Radwanski's column I realized how much damage the Liberal party took over the Martin/Chretien fights. "It was hard to believe, standing among them, that this was what remained of the unstoppable political force that once steamrolled anyone that got in its way."

It sounds rather trivial to say the next leader of the Liberal party, who is supposed to clean up the mess and bring back the Liberal values, should be someone with charisma, experience and expertise.

McKenna, Rock, Manley and many others who have been in this game long enough to understand the complications and the weight of such resposibility, all dropped out. Rookies such as Ruby Dhalla and people, who have previously belonged to other parties, such as Stronach, Brison and Rae are now on everyone's mind.

With all the scandals that the party has faced in the past 2 years, the last thing it needs is more drama! Emerson crossing the floor created so much publicity that "switching parties" may soon become the biggest crime of all!

The Liberal Party of Canada needs a leader that first and foremost has no baggage.

The only person who can rescue the party from this rut is someone, who never belonged to the Martin or Chretien wings, never belonged to any other party and has never been involved in any scandal.

I need to admit that Ignatieff looks good for the part. Although he has not been a career politician, just like Mulroney, if he has the conviction, he can restore what is left of the Liberal party.
