HRW

"The arbitrary arrest of Ramin Jahanbegloo shows the perilous state of academic freedom and free speech in Iran today. This prominent scholar should be celebrated for his academic achievements, not interrogated in one of Iran’s most infamous prisons."

Joe Stork, deputy Middle East director at Human Rights Watch
All Ramin's former students and colleagues are meeting today at U of T to organize a collective act for his release.

Leili, have you ever actually lived in Iran? I mean above the age of 16 ... do you really think there ought to be a reason to arrest someone, anyone in Iran?

They are saying ,unofficial, that he is arrested because of being a spy or some thing.like jackal said there is no reason needed!I am so sorry for him and hope for him but I am happy that he came back . I recently went to some of his programs in "Iranian artists house-Khaneye honarmandaane Iran" and I have seen many young people there so I belive with his books and his efforts he had done something very special...we cant do much here for him but I think you can support him there.
