My heart aches...

My heart aches and there doesn’t seem to be much I can do.

17 people have been arrested for alleged terrorist plots in Canada. The majority of them are Canadian-born citizens.

Some of my fellow compatriots hate their country, hate their neighbours and hate their own lives so much that are willing to plan a suicide-homicide attack.

Yesterday over lunch my co-workers expressed a different opinion : “We should all be more security-conscious. You never know when someone wants to blow up your office”.

Before I think about putting up “barbed wire” and “security gates” around my office building, I would like to ask myself “how did I make someone’s life so miserable that he wants to end mine?”

We think we have democracy. We have freedom of speech. We have religious freedom and we think we respect every human being regardless of his beliefs or ethnic background. Perhaps, we only think so!

It seems we have somehow, somewhere and sometime failed them. I am talking about the 17 that have been arrested. You and I have failed our own people.

My heart aches that I don’t know how.

My heart aches that there are people living in my city that are miserable.

My heart aches that I don’t know what to do.

yeah ok, so what?
in every country, in every era, in every society -- i mean a real society and not an imaginary utopia -- some members of the society live in substandard conditions, or as you put it miserable, otherwise there'd be no way to define what is standard; having said that:
having been failed by their families, their soceity, the government or perhaps this-worldly ways (!!!), DOES NOT justify a terrorist act against innocent women, men and children (soft targets). This, to my view, just is another method of escapism from whatever one is suffering from, be it simple poverty, religious fanatism or a philosophical deadend.

Just think about it. The man wanted to kill MPs and the Prime Minister and ...

Why so much hatred? Why so many extreme measures?
